Mount Holly will have the scent of barbeque in the air, so follow your nose to BBQ and Blues in the Park Festival in the Municipal Parking lot on Park Dr. right next to the Police Station on Saturday July 30th. The whole town will be energized with excitement as hot Chicago style blues and lip smacking BBQ waft through the air at Burlington County’s third-ever BBQ competition. A kid’s area will feature a face painting, clowns, organized games and prizes. It is anticipated that over 5,000 people will show their support for the BBQ teams contending for top prizes. Each of the 40 BBQ teams will spend the weekend slicing, seasoning and sizzling pork, chicken and beef in the hopes that their cooking will earn them a portion of the $6,000 in prizes and invaluable bragging rights. “This is a Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned event and a New Jersey State Championship so the winners will definitely have something to brag about this year. “
We will be supporting the Mount Holly Library, Mount Holly Woman’s League and Boobart.com with donations coming out of this years proceeds.
The festival will provide families with a whole day of entertainment so wear comfortable attire bring a chair and get ready to cheer. Taking part in the only BBQ and Blues Festival in Burlington County, attendees will enjoy live Blues and a little bit of Rock and Roll music from local favorites including Bryan Russo and Heart Full of Bluz
The many different types of BBQ will be featured among the food vendors, some which is cooked by competitor teams, themselves along with other scrumptious additions to tempt your taste buds. A classic festival favorite will include a selection of domestic and imported beers and wines coolers by Budweiser, the King of Beers.
This will be the most festive day east of the Mississippi with food, music, games and refreshments. Come see what all the “smell” is about. This event is presented by Beneficial Bank; other sponsors include Comcast and Burlington County College. The event is hosted by Main Street Mount Holly and a team of dedicated volunteers.
